ICD & CRTD Implantation

Protecting against sudden cardiac arrest while resynchronizing the failing heart.

Overview

An ICD continuously monitors for dangerous ventricular arrhythmias and delivers life-saving shocks, while a CRTD additionally resynchronizes the pumping chambers in heart failure. These devices are implanted under sedation using precise lead placement and defibrillation testing.

Procedure Details

  • Transvenous or subcutaneous ICD systems matched to the rhythm risk profile.
  • CRTD provides biventricular pacing to improve coordination of contraction.
  • Anti-tachycardia pacing minimizes unnecessary shocks.
  • Remote monitoring for early detection of arrhythmic or device events.
  • Survivors of cardiac arrest or sustained ventricular arrhythmia.
  • Severely reduced ejection fraction with heart failure.
  • Patients with prior heart attack and high arrhythmic risk.
  • Dyssynchronous heart failure requiring resynchronization.
